What is antibiotic resistance?

Antibiotic resistance (the phenomenon whereby a bacterium becomes resistant to the activity of an antimicrobial drug) is now a rampant and worrying problem in both Human and Veterinary Medicine. The emergence of resistant bacteria also seems to be due to the misuse and inappropriate, and not always necessary, use of antibiotics. Put simply, this means that nowadays many antibiotics no longer 'work' and we may once again become victims of diseases that we thought were defeated...

For exactly the same reason, antibiotic resistance in companion animals causes such therapeutic difficulties that the very lives of dogs and cats are at risk. ICF has been searching for more than 30 years for alternative formulations to antibiotics that are equally effective, especially in the case of otitis and pyoderma. After 10 years of research in collaboration with the Departments of Clinical and Experimental Medicine and Medical and Veterinary Sciences of the University of Parma and the University Hospital of Parma, ICF has patented AMP2041a synthetic antimicrobial peptide with scientifically proven antibacterial activity.

This peptide has been incorporated into various formulations. First and foremost Peptivet® Oto Gel, an eudermic otological gel that, thanks to the well-known characteristics of its components (Chlorhexidine digluconate max. 0.07% / Tris-EDTA / Vitamin PP / Zinc PCA / Glycerophosphoinositol lysine salt), improves the physiological state of the skin, counteracts irritative states and restores the skin barrier.

All WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS!
Peptivet oto gel should be applied every 48 hours after cleaning the ear, then gently massaging the base of the outer ear canal to allow adequate distribution of the product inside.
